I have an optometrist appointment in fifteen minutes. I’ll be honest, this appointment is well overdue and I fully expect that I’ll need glasses. Over the last few years, I’ve noticed my vision get significantly poorer, to the point where I actually can’t read signs anymore if I’m too far away. That never used to be an issue for me and it actually caught me off guard when I was trying to find a street and couldn’t read the sign names until it was too late to turn.
That was the kick up the guts I needed to book myself into my local optometrist. Bentleigh is a great place to live because it’s so central to so many good shops and healthcare resources, which is why it was so easy to book myself into an appointment. It potentially makes me look bad because it shows that I should have actually booked myself in for an optometry appointment several years ago… but hey! They say the best time to plant a tree was thirty years ago, the next best time is now, and I’m walking into my optometry appointment as we speak.
Well, it’s safe to say that I’m glad I went and got the eye test near Brighton. My vision is significantly poorer than even I expected and it was a real wake up call. I should not have been driving all these years without glasses and as it turns out, I have actually been a danger to myself and others for the last couple of years.
I immediately ordered glasses after being given strict instructions by the optometrist to do so and I will cease driving until the style I like has been delivered. Apparently, I’m going to notice a significant difference and improvement in my quality of life once I start wearing glasses every day. I’m looking forward to it.
